Applied Art -the branch of Art and Design, which helps to create better communications for the business community, is being regarded as a necessity and not just an art form.
Indian culture is enriched with milestone in the development Art and Design. We have a history of Guru-Shishya relationships that has set examples for the whole world to follow. Our tradition has been one of creation and manifestation of artistic expression. The international art community looks at India with an eye of respect. It is fitting then, that we stay at the forefront of the development of art that has found applications in the world.

Management
Some Educationist, Art lovers and Social workers from Sawantwadi conceived an idea of starting a College of Applied Art & Kala Prabodhini to provide opportunities to the talented students of Konkan area to obtain professional education in Applied Art.
Smt. Lalita Bandekar of the well known family of Sawatwadi donated a prime land for the college in memory of her late son, Balbhai Bandekar after whom the College is named.
The College is managed by Foundation for Health, Education and Culture Activities, Banda (Formerly Dr. B. B. Gaitonde Charitable Trust in close collaboration with Kala Prabhodhini Sindhudurga through a Governing Council) B. S. Bandekar College of Fine Art (Applied) started operation in the campus of Kalsulkar English School, Sawantwadi, in August 1998. At present College have own campus situated in near Forest Bhavan, Salaiwada, Sawantwadi on 1080 sq meter.

The college was established in the ‘Art Capital’ of southern Maharashtra, with the single minded objective of providing vocational training, education and curriculum to the skilled and art – inclined students of the region. The college conducts classes where University of Mumbai syllabus is taught and a graduate degree from the same university is awarded. This also has opened doors to the further education in art, for our students; in India and abroad. We have been constantly raising the mark for our students so that they can face the challenges tomorrow successfully.
